So here's the pitch: straight caucasian nerd boy from the 'burbs with "mad computer tech skillz yo" goes to college to capitalize on the Internet boom when the bubble busts and the market goes bonkers. Having developed an affinity for all things argumentative, persuasive, and rhetorical from a year long academic exposure to policy debate, said nerd goes all "Gordon Bombay" about it and decides to coach it forever. He embarks on a fantastic journey to the great state of Wyoming where he learns the ways of the game, what "rural" really means, and how sweet it can be when it doesn't suck. After retrieving the Great Scrolls of Whackademia the Nerd Hero returns to his alma mater to take up the reigns of the very squad that inspired his journey. Now, in 2008, he seeks to find new directions and relationships after realizing that the game of "policy debate" is like Magic the Gathering for people with too much interest in politics and not enough social skills.

In short, I'm a 27 year old college professor with interests in 80's pop culture, politics, Internet-mediated communication, music, and video games. I'm also really into graphic design, critiquing television and movies, and I have a lolcat obsession. Most of the people I knew in my town have moved on to greener pastures and I'm seeking to make some new friends (which might lead to something more than friendship).

My academic passions include persuasion, Rhetorical Criticism,New Media activism and Cultural Studies. Culture Jamming is straight up the most fun thing on the planet. Lunar dust is only cooler because it's sharp as hell and off the planet.

Fun fact: I know more about pop culture than anyone should; the only reason I didn't win VH1's "World Series of Pop Culture" is because I wasn't on it.

While messing around in the app store, I came upon the OKC App, which has sparked a whole new interest in good old OKC for me. I've been on OKC for years and I've really enjoyed it. I've met some cool people to have a drink with and some total crazies, it's a really nice cross-section of people to chat up when you're bored. One thing about the iphone app is that I think it says I'm online all the time even if I'm not, but I'll respond to pretty much everyone who says hello if you give me a day or two.

I have a terrible sense of direction, which includes geography both local and global. I never feel bad about asking for directions. This carries over into the internet because chances are, I have no idea where you're from or how to get there, even if it's close to me or a major national landmark. Call it a work in progress..

I'm a musician by trade, I write and record my own material (as well as whatever people will pay me for). I don't really like listening to or talking about it, but I love playing it live.. if you're interested in hearing it, that can be arranged. People always assume meanings and motivations and it turns into a disaster sometimes. Not every song is about someone in particular but if you get to know me pretty well, you'll be able to guess at the catalyst for most of the material. I've worked, written, played, produced, and toured with tiny no-name local acts all the way up to 5000+ seat shows opening for major label acts. It's exciting when I'm not starving to death.

I'm a jaded critic of the world in general. I have an extremely sharp/dry sense of humor, so try to take me with a grain of salt. I like football and baseball (Jets and Yankees fan), enjoy tossing a ball/frisbee/small child around with friends, and play a competitive although not professional game of racquetball. Oh, and I'm protected. The most important thing in my life is my family, I'm the oldest of 5 kids.

My ideal woman is intelligent and witty, and she can keep up in conversation or active debates with just me or in a circle. She has a lot going on in her life, she has better things to do than keep tabs on my every move. Trust me, my moves aren't all that interesting anyway. She's goal-oriented; she doesn't have to be a doctor or lawyer but she needs to have or be setting herself up for a life of self-sufficiency, we'll both be happier that way, trust me. She doesn't have to be super-athletic or a sports freak but it's nice to be able to throw a frisbee around or try something new every so often, and it wouldn't hurt if she at least can be accepting that things can get a little emotional around the house come playoff time. This is rather difficult, as I am far from arrogant and this process is basically concocting an advertisement for myself, championing all of my glowing qualities and so on. No one wants to advertise negative qualities and facets of their personality, but these things are what truly define us. I much prefer to present my status and interests and leave the legitimate information for later when these things can be presented in an actual conversation instead of putting them up in my advertisement.

I am just a laid back chick who takes life one day at a time. In my free time I like to either hang with my friends, play games of any sort, watch movies and sing/listen to music. I'm a pretty straight-forward girl. I'm not the type to get mad at you for no reason nor do I get mad too easily. If by chance someone DOES make me angry, give me till the next morning and I'm usually over it. I don't snoop or care about your past relationships. We all have a past and we can't change it; the point is to learn from it. I'm not perfect and I don't expect anyone else to be, so I am pretty understanding. A breeze that cuts just a little on an autumn night; leather jackets; unsalted butter; hand made things; homemade mescal; a woman whose shoes make her all the more beguiling; fountain pens; long dark hair; wool clothing; raw milk; motorcycles; kissing; analogue; the humidifier that whirred through the night in my room whenever I was a child with a fever;...things I love, and some that make my heart beat hard and fast...

I am a romantic, who is also a realist. I experience pain and pleasure, each with intensity, <<complexity>>, and abandon. But I am also disciplined. I am brainy, and silly, a little shy, but often confident, nerdy in parts, but cool in others, kind, and <<passionate>>. I am full past the brim with <<nostalgia>>, but I look to the future with anticipation, and am finding out how to work more harmoniously with the present. I (often) learn from mistakes.

I am not financially poor, but certainly not rich therein. You'd have to want what I have to offer - I (currently, at least) can give neither wealth nor great prestige by my companionship.

I am attractive, fit, agile, creative, and usually more modest(: I am travelled. I have lived outside of the U. S. (in Venezuela), and spent time in many other places. I have lived long in NYC, and am still in intimate contact with it, though now I reside in the leafy, hilly hinterlands to the north. I am refined, but I am also tough. I have labored at farmwork, as well as in the office. I once made it through officer boot camp in the Marines - more strenuous I was told than Parris Island. I care for my body, and lust over a woman's. I am not so terribly narcissistic (honest). I am always hoping for a mate to be a wonderful team with. I want it to be a graceful pairing, <<elegant>> together in our physical relations, as well as mental. I am patient... I am seeking someone <<intelligent>>, sophisticatedly feminine, easy-going about most things...but not without a sharp bite to her. A profound sense of humor (irony, absurdity, highbrow, lowbrow) is necessary (especially one that can deal with my ridiculousness), and physical attraction is essential. Also, I don't need a carbon-copy of me and my thinking (heaven forbid!). I'm open-minded - show/teach me something :).
