Highland Elementary School Reviews

Highland Elementary has worked hard in the past years to improve curriculum and communication with parents and community. Principal works hard to meet all the needs of the students. New programs such as Parent University help parents help our kids.

If you have a special needs child, this school is for you, but if you have an above average child this school has nothing for you. I'm taking my children out to a private school so they will get attention as well.

I think the quality of the academic programs at the highland elementary schools is pretty good, the problem is with special education. The extra one on one isnt' always there or available. And it takes pulling eye teeth to get services provided.

The school has had a different principal every year for the past 2 years. The student to teacher ratio is incorrect. (14.8 is ridiculous.) My child has never had less than 20 - 23 children to a class. My child is taught for the state tests and not giving the full benefit of learning. I feel the school district is more concerned with their overall scores rather than what the children are learning.

I have three children who attend Highland. The major problem I have is that they have not filled the position of principal for 3 years (using deputy or temporary people in the meantime.) Other than that, it's a very good school. My children like their teachers and on a whole, I have been satisfied.
